چکیده
Abdominal hernia reparation constitutes the second surgical operation in world with more than 20 million cases per year. However, 50 % of all intra-abdominal operations, postoperative adhesions occur and result important pain for patients. These take place after excessive deposition fibrin between peritoneum organs within 7 days which occurs during coagulation cascade. For this reason, therapeutic solutions are required to both prevent adhesion limit need a step. Numerous techniques were described past few decades design biomedical textile implants and, among them, electrospinning shows great interest due porous nanometer diameter range structure obtained fibers. In parallel, cold plasma treatment can be used activate graft their surface functional molecules, exhibiting example antibacterial or anticoagulant properties. This work aims at functionalizing, biodegradable polycaprolactone (PCL) electrospun nanofibers covering polypropylene meshes (PPM) 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid (AMPS) through induced copolymerization. AMPS was chosen as it contains heparin-like segments, leading potentially similar effect. First, PCL optimized by varying process, solution environmental parameters allowed select 12 formic/acetic mixture. The graft-copolymerization then terms power time treatment, well concentration, using experimental design, order obtain rich SO3H groups surface. At each step material thoroughly characterized proving presence onto nanofibers. cytocompatibility properties, evaluated sterilization, promising an anti-adhesive application these nanofibrous mats no release cytotoxic compound.

In vivo performance of antibiotic embedded electrospun PCL membranes for prevention of abdominal adhesions.
The aim of this study was to prepare nonwoven materials from poly(epsilon-caprolactone) (PCL) and their antibiotic containing forms by electrospinning, so as to prevent postsurgery induced abdominal adhesions in rats. epsilon-Caprolactone was first polymerized by ring-opening polymerization, and then it was processed into matrices composed of nanofibers by electrospinning. A model antibiotic (B...
متن کامل[Prevention of postoperative adhesions].
Postoperative adhesions represent a common consequence in patients who underwent abdominal or pelvic surgery. Such adhesions can be asymptomatic, but they can cause complications such as chronic abdomino-pelvic pain, secondary infertility, an increase in bowel obstruction risk and more complexity for future surgery, including longer surgery times and an increase in morbidity. Normally, adhesion...
متن کاملPreventing postoperative abdominal adhesions in a rat model with PEG-PCL-PEG hydrogel
BACKGROUND Poly (ethylene glycol)-poly (ɛ-caprolactone)-poly (ethylene glycol) (PEG-PCL-PEG, PECE) hydrogel has been demonstrated to be biocompatible and thermosensitive. In this study, its potential efficacy and mechanisms of preventing postsurgical abdominal adhesions were investigated. RESULTS PECE hydrogel was transformed into gel state from sol state in less than 20 seconds at 37°C. None...

Postoperative adhesions and their prevention
The fact that adhesions can form following abdominal surgery has been known since the beginning of surgery. Yet during the early years of surgery, adhesion formation received little attention, the focus being on infection and survival. In the seventies clinical endocrinology developed explosively, driven by the introduction of oral contraceptives and by the introduction of radioimmunoassays—a t...
